Principal's Corner

Dr. Janie Jones

HMS Principal's Corner

HMS Parents, Students and Community Stakeholders,

It is with great pleasure that I serve our community and schools as the principal at Headland Middle School. I started my journey as a wide-eyed intern in Montgomery County, where I worked as a 7th, 8th and 9th grade English teacher for eight years. Then I moved to Prattville, Alabama where I taught 7th and 8th grade English and Advanced English for eight years. I also led National Jr. Beta Club for those eight years. Then in my sixteenth year of teaching I became an Assistant Principal at Prattville Jr. High as part of a state program. During that season, my husband, children and I decided to return to our home in Headland, Alabama. We wanted our children to have the same peanut-loving education we enjoyed!

I am a proud Alumni of the class of 1999 at Headland High School. I was excited to come home to give back to the community that gave so much to me. In 2021, I served as an Instructional Coach at Headland Middle School.

I truly enjoy the middle school! The magic is in the middle! As a National Board Certified Teacher, it is a passion of mine to provide a fun, safe, and rigorous environment for our students. This comes through empowering teachers to teach to the best of their ability and inspiring students to be the best they can be in and outside of the classroom.
