Career Tech Business Tour

Students from our 9th grade Career Tech class toured business in Headland to help them learn about what careers they might be interested in pursuing after high school.

Twenty-three students participated in touring Alabama Power.  Students received an overview and introduction from the Headland Customer Service and Appliance Sales Team, the Headland Power Delivery Team, the Warehouse and Linework/Tools Team.  They were able to see how a business operates up close and ask questions regarding their career interest.

Twenty-three students participated in touring Peoples South Bank. Students toured the bank and learned about some of the different jobs that are available in the banking world and about the different services available at the bank for teens like opening accounts. They were able to see how a business operates up close and ask questions regarding their career interest.

Twenty-one students participated in touring Wiregrass Research and Extension Center. Students toured the center and learned more about it and the different careers that are touched by it. They were able to see how a business operates up close and ask questions regarding their career interest.

Sixty-seven ninth grade students at Headland Middle School Ninth Grade Academy volunteered their service to assist the Judson Overflowing Ministries thrift store and warehouse. They assisted with sorting and organizing clothing and household items for the thrift store and helped get the Christmas items out of their storage area for display and sale. This experience provided students with an opportunity to serve our surrounding community, earn community service hours, and shadow store employees to learn what it is like to work on the job.
