• Welcome to Henry County Schools Federal Programs Department

The Henry County School System has adopted the goal of program coordination and is committed to improving teaching and learning through greater cross-program coordination, planning, and service delivery of federal programs, special education services, community education, and parent involvement programs, as well as professional development.

The Henry County School System is committed to producing responsible, productive citizens by providing a quality education for all students in a safe environment. This is accomplished through a comprehensive, developmentally appropriate, and challenging curriculum taught by highly qualified, effective staff.

Specific programs of the Federal Programs Department:

Title I - Improving the Academic Achievement of the Disadvantaged:  Henry County has four Title I schoolwide schools (Abbeville Elementary, Abbeville High, Headland Elementary, and Headland Middle) served by the Title I program.

Title II - Supporting Effective Instruction:  All Henry County schools are served with the Title II program.

Title III - English Learner(EL) Program: All Henry County schools offer a core EL program.

To facilitate the implementation of the various programs, the following plans have been developed:
    LEA Consolidated Plan
    LEA Parent Engagement Plan
    LEA EL Plan
LEA Homeless Children and Youth Plan/Procedure
    LEA Foster Care Plan

All of these plans are posted on this website and are also available for review in the Federal Programs Coordinator's Office in the Central Office as well as in the principal's office and media center at each school. To view the documents online, please look in the Documents section of Federal Programs.

Parent engagement is an important factor for success in our schools.  Please see the Parent Involvement documents in the Documents section of Federal Programs, especially the Home & School Connections documents.

Certified Teacher Requirements:  The principal of each school operating a Schoolwide Program attests annually in writing to whether the such school is in compliance with the Certified Teacher Requirements.  Copies of the attestations are on file at each school office and the central office and are available to the general public on request.

Help the Henry County Schools locate, identify, and provide services for Homeless Children and Youth, ages pre-school through age 21.
