Welcome to the HMS Media Center
-
The HMS library is ready to serve students! All 6th-8th grade students will visit the library weekly with their history teacher for class. Students will learn research skills, technology skills and and how to access and evaluate information using the internet and their gmail and google drives. 9th grade students are welcomed to use the library too. All students are allowed to check out up to two books at a time. Books can be checked out for a two-week period. Any books that are not returned at the end of the school year or are returned damanged may result in a fine.
Mrs. Tew also helps students with their Google accounts. If you have any questions about your student's Google Classroom account or school-provided Google email account, please contact Mrs. Tew.
Be sure to check out our awesome library links to the right. Some of the links can help students with how to cite sources!

HMS Online Public Access Catalog (OPAC)
Click here to open the HMS OPAC
This database will allow you to search the Headland Middle School Library's resources and tell you if we have what you are looking for and how many copies we have. It will also tell you if it's in the library or if it is checked out. You can use the OPAC from any computer or device with internet access by going to the Headland Middle School website and clicking on the OPAC icon on the right hand side of the screen.
All students have a username and password for the OPAC and Mrs. Tew passes out that information during library classes. If you have forgotten or lost your username or password, please contact Mrs. Tew. Remember, students do not need to login into the OPAC just to search for books. Students do have to login if they would like to access their personal account to see what books they have checked out or to reserve books. -

How to Cite a Source (the green card)
CLICK HERE to access a copy of our "green card" that we use to cite sources in the HMS library. Remember, this card is very basic and should only be used to cite websites for projects on assignments at HMS. For more detailed information about citing sources, please see the link to OWL Purdue.
